Attendance is taken every period. If a student misses more than 10 minutes of a class, it is considered an absence. Parents need to send a doctor's note for absences. Students can bring notes to the front office.

Texas Education Code 25.085, Texas Compulsory Attendance Law
(a) A child who is required to attend school under this section shall attend school each day for the entire period the program of instruction is provided.
(b) Unless specifically exempted by Section 25.086, a child who is at least six years of age, or who is young than six years of age and has previously been enrolled in first grade, and who has not yet reached the child's 18th birthday shall attend school.
 
Parent notification and truancy prevention measures will be taken by school personnel prior to taking legal action.
