 Mrs. Lauren Shoemaker is the Art teacher at Robert P. Brabham Middle School. Mrs. Shoemaker graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a minor in Secondary Education. 

In her free time, Mrs. Shoemaker loves to paint, draw, make illustrations and spend time with her wonderful husband and pets. 

Mrs. Shoemaker is very excited to spend the year developing and nurturing your student's artistic talents!

Classroom Rules and Expectations

1. Respect yourself and others at all times. 

2. Listen silently while the teacher is talking or instructing the class. 

3. Stay in your assigned seat. Do not ask to move seats. 

4. Clean up your messes and take care of supplies. 

5. Come to class on time and prepared to WORK. 

6. Make SMART choices. 





Recent Posts

2017-18 School Year

All art students will have an art fee due by September 1st. This fee will cover the student art pack, journal, sketchbook (8th only) and all materials used in the classroom throughout the year (paint, paper, etc.) Mrs. Shoemaker will collect the fees in class during the first weeks of school. Make checks payable to BMS Art. 
Art 7 fee- $15 due by Sept. 1st
Art 1 HS- $20 due by Sept. 1st

Sketchbook Assignment Due February 21st

Theme: Travel
Must be fully colored or shaded, fill the page, turned in on time and on theme to receive full credit!

Sketchbook Assignment Due 1/31

Theme: Music
Assignment must be turned in on time, fully colored or shaded and fill the page to receive a 95 or above. Sketchbook assignments turned in the next day will receive a maximum grade of a 50. 

Art 1 HS Applications

Hello Parents and Students, 
The Art 1 HS applications are due by February 17th. You may turn them in any time before then as well. This is a great opportunity for your student to earn high school credit while still in an 8th grade environment. 
I will be passing out applications during all 7th grade 1st period classes or students may pick up an application from room 315. You may also print the applications from my webpage.

Rodeo Art Show

The Annual District Rodeo Art Show will be next Friday, January 13th.
The viewing for parents and students will be that evening from 4:30-6 pm in the gym at C.C. Hardy Elementary!

Sketchbook Assignment Due Tuesday, January 10th

Theme: Fire and Ice
Assignments must fill the page, be fully colored or shaded and be turned in on time to receive full credit. 

Next Art Club Meeting

The next Art club meeting will be held on January 10th in the art room from 2:40-3:15!

Sketchbook Assignment Due Dec. 13th

Theme is: Poisonous
Must fill the page, have a background, and be fully colored or shaded for maximum credit. 

Sketchbook Assignment: Free Choice due Nov. 1st

Students may choose to draw anything that they would like. Assignment is due on Nov. 1st. Students must fill the page, completely color or shade their drawing and turn their work in on time to receive full credit. 
Students attending the field trip may turn their assignments in on Monday or before 1st period on Tuesday. 

Sketchbook Assignment Due October 25th

Theme: Electricity
To receive full credit, assignments must be fully colored or shaded, must fill the page, be neat and turned in on time. Sketchbook assignments are due at the beginning of class every Tuesday. 

Sketchbook Assignment due October 18th

Theme: Carnival
-Must fill the page
-Be fully colored or shaded
-Must be neat
This assignment will count as a major grade. 

Sketchbook Assignment Due 10/11

Theme is "Favorite Quote". Must be a full page, fully colored or shaded and turned in on time!
