About Mrs. Gilliland

This will be Mrs. Gilliland's second year here at Brabham and she is very excited! This will be the start of her 11th year of teaching. She previously taught 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts and Reading in New Caney ISD at White Oak Middle School.
Mrs. Gilliland is from Houston, but has been a resident of Willis for the past 9 years. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in May of 2007, where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Academic Studies and minor in English Language Arts and Reading. She also obtained a Master's Degree in Education Counseling from The University of Saint Thomas, Houston in December of 2015. She is currently working on her LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) from Lamar University. She will be the ELAR department head this year, Destination Imagination coach, and the National Junior Honor Society sponsor. She has been married to her husband for 7 years and they enjoy hunting, fishing, and being outdoors!

National Write a Novel Month (November 2017)

I’m sure some of your children might have mentioned the fact that they will have an opportunity to write a novel during the month of November. This will be the first year I will be trying this and I am excited to share this with my students. This is completely OPTIONAL and I am not making it mandatory because this will take a lot of time. I encourage you to look over the website and talk to your child about participating in this challenge for National Write a Novel Month. The website is students will have to have parent permission to sign up. My class code is SULYSESF

Brabham Spelling Bee 2017

If your child is interested in participating in the Brabham Spelling Bee this year they can sign up with me. I have a list of practice words, and the Bee will be held Monday, November 27th from 4p-5p in the Brabham library.
