Welcome to Brabham Middle School! Ms. Marks is so excited to be a part of this fabulous community and school. A graduate of Texas Tech University, she has two older children, Sam - age 22 and Megan - age 19 and a sophomore at Texas Tech University. She also has two miniature Australian Shepherd puppies that entertain her in the evenings. Ms. Marks loves to read...naturally, and she is always reading novels she thinks your students might like.
Teaching is her second career and her passion. After running a successful real estate company for 15 years, Ms. Marks decided to do something where she could make a difference in children's lives. She completed her alternative certification and has never looked back. Eleven of the last thirteen years have been spent in teaching at the high school level in Montgomery and Frisco.
Remind is a contact system that she uses in her classes to remind students (and parents) of upcoming assignments. Directions on how to register can be found in your student's appropriate course syllabus, which is attached.
Several on-line computer programs will be utilized throughout this year that your student may also practice at home if they need extra help. The links to those programs can be found below:
www.khanacademy.org is a program run by College Board, the same institution that
publishes the SAT test.
www.noredink.com is a self-paced grammar program that we use in class and at
home to help with grammar and sentence structure.
Google Classroom is another tool she uses for assignments. Your student has logged on to Google Classroom and is able to
pull this up if you would like to take a look at the upcoming assignments and notes. Some assignments will be submitted by
students through this site. Every class period has their own page.
Finally, Ms. Marks tutorial days are Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. However, she is happy to stay with your student any
day of the week to help with tutoring as long as they make arrangements with her prior to the day.
She is grateful for this opportunity to share her thirst for knowledge with your student and she looks forward to a successful year. Please don't hesitate to contact her by email if you have any questions or concerns.
