I am delighted to introduce myself as your child’s new 6th grade Science teacher. My name is Cara McCollum and I am thrilled to join the team at Brabham Middle School! I know it is challenging to have a teacher change in the middle of the school year. From this point forward our classroom goal is to provide a welcoming, fun and stable environment where students will enjoy learning and grow as productive citizens at the same time.
Upon graduating from Texas A&M University, I began my teaching career in my hometown of Conroe. I was fortunate to teach Science and Dance at both the Jr. High and High School and to serve as an administrator in a local private school. As a 5th generation resident of Montgomery County, I believe it our responsibility to serve in our community when called upon. Prior to accepting this position, I served as the Brabham PTO Secretary. It was my pleasure to accept when Mrs. Mathews asked if I would consider joining the ranks as a teacher.
Just like each of you, I have a vested interested in the education provided at Brabham. I am the mother to two precious girls and two step-sons. My husband and I moved to Willis in 2015 and Rusty Heart Ranch is where we call home. Our ranch is home to 12 horses, 2 mini horses, 2 mini donkeys, 4 pigs, 4 dogs and a flock of geese. We spend most of our spare time playing with the animals, taking our kids to their sporting activities and hunting at our deer lease. I hope to convey my love of science and the great outdoors to your child each day while we learn about the world around us.
My teaching philosophy is that each child has been given a special gift that they can use to make the world a better place. As teachers and parents, it is our challenge and responsibility to help our students discover their strengths and gifts. It is through encouraging words and finding the way that each individual learns best that all students can accomplish great things. In our classroom we will practice and mirror respect and kindness. This is a must in creating a safe learning environment. I invite you to visit daily with your child about school and our classroom. Please feel free to contact me through email email@example.com. I will do my best to respond to you at the end of each day. I look forward to working with you and watching your children grow this year!
