Note from the Director
Greetings Parents and Students!
My name is Nicole Peach and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your student for the ’17-’18 school year! Choir is one of the most rewarding experiences your student could have in the course of his or her life. Not only will they learn how to express themselves through music, they will hopefully gain many new lifelong friends.
Why did I decide to teach choir? Music has always been part of my life from a young age, though I didn’t formally take lessons for many years. My first musical love was musical theater. I love the larger-than-life characters, the challenging athleticism of combining singing with dance, and of course the big production numbers! Because of my interest in the musicals, I was recruited to my school’s choir. I loved that I was able to meet new and interesting people. I loved that being in choir made me feel like part of a team. I had a stern but compassionate director, and I have him to thank for much of my desire to teach music. He helped me to grow not only has a musician, but as a person. I will never forget the influences that strong teachers had on my life. Ultimately, I am the person I am today because of my teachers, professors, and directors.
That is my goal as an educator. I want to enrich your student lives musically, and help guide them on the path of life. I want to teach them that the skills they learn in choir can transfer to success in the rest of their lives. The hard-work, perseverance, and dedication gained through participation in a music ensemble can help them achieve their goals. I want them to feel like they are part of a team that will always support them in all of their endeavors.
I personally believe that all children have the ability to learn and to learn how to be excellent. No matter the circumstances, every student has the capacity to learn and make art. No student should ever be written off. I will carry this into my classroom by tailoring this course to my student’s needs, having open lines of communication at all times, and by creating a safe environment for the students to learn in.
Once again, I am so very excited to be your student’s choir director! We will have a stellar year in the BMS Choir.
